Achillea millefolium, commonly known as White Yarrow or Common Yarrow, is a graceful perennial wildflower that produces an abundance of huge, flat clusters, measuring up to 12 cm (5 inches) across, packed with 20-25 creamy-white flowers. This famous herb is a terrific choice for a wildflower groundcover or as a clump in a blooming meadow, as its lovely and lasting foliage and flowers make it a delightful addition to the landscape. However, it can become invasive if seeded widely, as it has the potential to fill a meadow area and exclude everything else within two or three years.

The plant's tall stems rise from a pleasantly aromatic, green, fern-like foliage that is disease resistant. Yarrow has a great medieval herbal history and has been used in medicine and magic for centuries. It is also a favorite for dried flower arrangements. Yarrow seeds require some light to germinate, and the process can be slow, taking between 14 to 28 days if the soil temperature is kept at 70°F (21°C). At lower soil temperatures, it can take as long as 100 days for the seeds to sprout.
